£150k McLaren supercar caught doing 100mph on M6 - the driver didn't spot the unmarked police car

The driver of a £150,000 sports car has been caught doing more than 100mph on the M6, police say.

The red McLaren 570S was spotted racing down the motorway near Wigan by officers in an unmarked car.

Unfortunately for the driver, he was clocked in doing more than 30mph over the speed limit.

He was stopped and police later reported the incident.

In a tweet, an officer from GMP's Traffic Unit said: "McLaren 570 seen driving in excess of 100mph on the M6 close to Wigan.

"It's a shame he didn't spot the unmarked police car behind him. Vehicle stopped and driver reported."

The McLaren supercar can reach 100mph in just 6.3 seconds and boasts a top speed of 204mph. Launched in 2015, the car costs £149,000 new for the basic model.

Anyone concerned about vehicle crime can contact police on 101.
