150 new homes planned for Old Trafford as council teams up with housing trust

Trafford Council is joining forces with a housing trust to provide 150 homes in Old Trafford .

The joint venture between the authority and Trafford Housing Trust was approved at a cabinet meeting on Monday (January 6).

The plan is to now push ahead with proposals for new housing off Bold Street in Old Trafford as part of the Tamworth Phase II development.

The brownfield site was previously used for housing, shops and was home to a pub but all of those buildings have since been demolished.

The area could provide more than 150 new homes in a mixture of houses and apartments to rent or buy and affordable housing.

Coun James Wright, Trafford Council ’s cabinet member for housing and regeneration, said: “The scheme will go some way to meeting the demand for housing in Trafford and will provide people with attractive properties in a good location.

"Trafford, like many other areas, desperately needs new homes that people can afford to live in.

“It is also important to note that in line with this council’s priorities, this development is on brownfield land in a sustainable location.”

Trafford Council and Trafford Housing Trust have worked together for the last 10 years to deliver homes in the area.
