15-year-olds appear at court charged with robberies at Post Office and village store

Two teenagers who face charges of robbing Collingham Post Office and a village store have been remanded in custody.

The 15-year-olds were brought before District Judge Leo Pyle at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, January 6, after previously being remanded by a court on Saturday.

Solicitors Adele McBride and Ian Carter applied for bail on behalf of the pair, offering addresses for them outside the county.

This was opposed by Sanjay Jerath, prosecuting, and the case was sent to Nottingham Crown Court on February 3.

Bail was refused by the judge, who told them they can apply for bail again when the case reaches the crown court. The teenagers are charged with:

* Robbery of M&I Convenience Store, Main Street, Claypole, Lincs on December 30;
* Robbery of Collingham Post Office, stealing cash and cigarettes on January 2;
* Burglary at Lime Grove, Newark on December 29 where two cars were stolen.

A 19-year-old man has already been sent in custody to the crown court. He did not apply for bail.

The two 15-year-olds are too young to be named in public.
