15-year-old boy drowns in a well in Nazirabad

BHOPAL: A 15-year-old boy, allegedly slipped in a well while fetching water in Nazirabad locality on Friday evening and drowned. Police reached the spot and registered a case. The body was fished out of the well and sent for postmortem late at night. Police suspect it was an accident as the wooden plank on the wall of the well on which people stepped to take out water was found broken.

SHO Nazirabad SI BP Singh Bains said that the deceased was identified as Ramanand Malviya, 15, a resident of Runaha village in Nazirabad.

SHO Bains said that deceased’s father Mukesh told police that Ramanand went to the well on Friday evening around 5 pm. When he did not return till late evening, Mukesh and his family members went to search for him. They found that the wooden plank fitted on the well was broken. He peeped into the well and found Ramanand’s body floating in the water. He along with villagers fished out the body but Ramanand was dead. Police reached the spot on getting information and registered a case.
