A 15-year-old has been arrested after a footballer was racially abused.
The teenage boy was arrested after a Southport FC player was racially abused on social media shortly after the team's defeat away to York City on October 9.
Both clubs issued statements on Monday, October 11 announcing an investigation had begun to find the person who abused the player.

Last night (Wednesday, October 20) Southport FC revealed North Yorkshire police had executed a warrant and arrested the teen.
Since the arrest, the boy has been released on conditional bail with enquiries ongoing.
North Yorkshire police released the following statement on their website: "A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in relation to this incident.
"He has been released on conditional bail and enquiries are ongoing."
Both Southport FC and York City released statements following the arrest.
Southport FC said in a statement: "Further to the statement we issued on Monday 11 October relating to one of our players having been subjected to online racial hatred and abuse on social media, we have been informed that North Yorkshire Police has executed a warrant and arrested a 15-year old male.
"Southport Football Club thanks North Yorkshire and Merseyside Police forces for their prompt actions in this regard and York City Football Club for its cooperation and assistance in this matter.
"We do not anticipate making further comment until the conclusion of the Police investigation and process."
York City wrote: "Further to the statement we issued on Monday 11 October relating to a Southport player having been subjected to online racial hatred and abuse on social media, we can confirm that North Yorkshire Police has executed a warrant and arrested a 15-year old male.
"York City Football Club thanks North Yorkshire and Merseyside Police forces for their prompt actions in this regard and Southport Football Club for its cooperation and assistance in this matter.
"We do not anticipate making further comment until the conclusion of the Police investigation and process."
