Being a parent is easy - said no one ever.

So sometimes, us mums and dads have to get a bit creative when it comes to getting through to our kids.

And while being open and honest with your children is the golden rule - sometimes a wee white lie gets told.

Whether it is to get them to stop misbehaving or to eat more vegetables and less sweeties, parents across Scotland have a fair few fibs they all use.

Here are some of the most remembered wee white lies from our childhoods:

1. Eating the crusts on your toast will give you curly hair

2. Carrots help you see in the dark

3. If you step on a beetle it will rain

4. If you pee in the swimming pool the water will turn purple

5. If the wind changes your face will stay like that (when pulling a face)

6. Saying your wish aloud and it won’t come true

7. If you're naughty, Santa only brings you coal

13. If you are naughty you will go to the bad fire

14. Sneeze with your eyes open and your eyeballs pop out

15. If you tell lies your nose will grow
