15 new cases in Hunter New England Health district

Hunter New England Health district recorded 15 new coronavirus cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday night.

Of the new cases, seven were from Mid Coast LGA, three were from Moree Plains LGA, two were from Cessnock LGA, two were from Maitland LGA, and one from Newcastle LGA.

Five of the new cases were in isolation for their entire infectious period, while 10 were infectious in the community.

Hunter New England Health urged people to seek testing if they were experiencing any symptoms.

It comes as NSW premier Dominic Perrottet has warned the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, as urgent genomic sequencing was undertaken to establish whether the Omicron strain has already reached NSW.
