15 must-watch Titans games to stream on NFL Game Pass

If you’re just like everyone else and have nothing to do while the world tries to wait out the coronavirus at home, you could be watching old Tennessee Titans games to pass the time.

That’s right, NFL Game Pass is currently free for everyone and it allows you to re-watch old Titans games dating back to 2009.

So, which games are the best ones to watch in order to re-live some old Titans glory?

Let’s check it out in order, going from the oldest games to the most current ones.

15. Week 8 2009: CJ2K goes off

The term “CJ2K went off” was a regular phrase in 2009, but this game in particular was even more special than the rest.

Not only did Johnson stream roll the division rival Jacksonville Jaguars in a 30-13 win, he posted the most yards he had in any game during his historic 2000-yard season.

Johnson went for 228 yards and two scores, including touchdown runs of 52 and 89 yards.

14. Week 1 2015: Marcus Mariota’s debut

The debate between who was better of the No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks of the 2015 NFL Draft started immediately, with a Week 1 matchup pitting Marcus Mariota against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jameis Winston.

Mariota stepped up right away to answer the bell by throwing for 209 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Titans’ defense forced two turnovers, one of which was a pick-six on Winston’s very first throw (boy, that was a sign of things to come, wasn’t it?).

After seeing this 42-14 victory, the Titans’ fan base was understandably excited about its new young quarterback, even though the team itself wasn’t very good that season.

13. Week 6 2017: The curse is broken

Prior to their Week 6 game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Titans had lost every game against their division rival dating back to 2011. This was a streak that felt like it would never be broken.

The 2017 campaign gave new hope for Tennessee, albeit as a result of Andrew Luck being ruled out for the season.

Facing Jacoby Brissett instead, the Titans finally got over the hump against the Colts in a game that was tied midway through the fourth quarter.

The Titans would go on to score two unanswered touchdowns from that point, one of which came via a 53-yard pass from Mariota to Taywan Taylor, and the other from Derrick Henry’s 72-yard run.

12. Week 17 2017: The Young Maestro

After losing three straight games going into Week 17 against the Jaguars, the Titans looked primed to miss a golden opportunity to make the playoffs for the first time since 2008, and for the first time in the Mariota era.

However, the “Young Maestro” would not be denied, as his legendary stiff arm on Jaguars safety Barry Church will go down as one of the most memorable plays in team history.

Facing a third-and-5 and with Tennessee clinging to a 15-10 lead against the 10-win Jags, Mariota stiff armed Church into another zip code to pick up a huge first down. We can’t forget to mention the juke he had to make just to get to that point.

Tennessee would end up punting it away on the next set of downs, but Mariota’s clutch run ensured Jacksonville would have almost no time on the clock to pull off a miracle.

The Jags never pulled off that miracle and the Titans advanced to the postseason, where more magic awaited them.

11. Wild Card 2017: The self pass and the epic comeback

With the Titans trailing 21-3 going into the second half of the 2017 Wild Card Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, things were looking bleak to say the least.

But led by Derrick Henry’s monstrous game (191 total yards and one touchdown), a strong defensive performance in the final two quarters and Mariota coming up big, Tennessee was able to pull off a comeback for the ages.

This game is perhaps most famously remembered for Mariota throwing a touchdown pass to himself in the third quarter that started the comeback. Tennessee would go on to win, 22-21, which was the franchise’s first playoff win since 2003.

10. Week 4 2018: Corey Davis for the win

Another memorable comeback, the Titans trailed the Philadelphia Eagles 17-3 midway through the third quarter in this game and it looked as though Tennessee was heading for a loss.

But once again, Mariota would not be denied, as he threw for 344 yards and two scores, while also leading the team in rushing and adding another score on the ground in the 26-23 win.

After taking the game to overtime, the Eagles took the lead on a field goal, but Mariota would lead the Titans on a 75-yard drive that was capped off by a game-winning touchdown pass to Corey Davis.

9. Week 14 2018: The 99-yard run

Henry had some solid games during his young career until this point, but he was propelled into a different stratosphere after torching the Jaguars for 238 yards and four touchdowns in a 30-9 win.

As if those numbers weren’t impressive enough, Henry also totaled long touchdown runs of 54 and 99 yards, and what made the 99-yard scamper even more impressive was the fact that he ran through the entire Jaguars defense to do it.

It was the start of an impressive four-week stretch that saw King Henry total 585 yards and seven touchdowns, as he nearly carried the Titans into the playoffs by himself that season. This game was just a sign of things to come for the Alabama product.

8. Week 1 2019: Dethroning the offseason Super Bowl champions

All the talk and hype going into the first game of Titans’ 2019 season against the Cleveland Browns was how the new-look Browns were going to start their special season off on the right foot with a win.

Well, the Titans had other plans and ended up smoking the Browns, 43-13.

After the game remained close for much of the first three quarters, the Titans started pouring it on from late in the third quarter on, starting with a 75-yard touchdown reception on a screen pass to Henry.

To make the game even better, Delanie Walker, who was making his return after missing all but one game in 2019, added a pair of scores in the fourth quarter. Malcolm Butler capped off the win with a pick-six, and that was just one of three interceptions on the afternoon for Baker Mayfield.

A star was also born in this game, as A.J. Brown’s debut in the NFL saw him catch two large gains and finish with 100 yards receiving.

7. Week 7 2019: The goal line stand

By Week 7, Titans fans had almost given up all hope for the 2019 season. The team was dreadful offensively and had been shut out the week prior, and the team owned a 2-4 record and needed to make a serious run to turn things around.

Enter Ryan Tannehill, who replaced Mariota the week prior and was officially named the starter in Week 7. Tannehill gave the fan base immediate hope by throwing for 312 yards and two scores, but even with his impressive effort he still needed help from the defense.

And that help came in the form of a huge goal line stand late in the game after Philip Rivers drove the Chargers down the field to set them up at the one-yard line.

Tennessee would go on to make four huge stops on the Chargers to prevent them from getting into the end zone, and Wesley Woodyard’s forced fumble on Melvin Gordon was the play that iced the game.

6. Week 10 2019: Joshua Kalu!

A bad start to the season overall and a costly loss to the Carolina Panthers the week before meant the Titans needed to win every game possible from here on out.

The only problem was that they were facing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Week 10. Yes, Mahomes was coming back from an injury, but that didn’t stop him from throwing for 446 yards and three scores.

There are plenty of memorable moments from this game, whether you want to talk about Henry’s long touchdown run en route to 188 yards and two scores, or Tannehill’s eventual game-winning touchdown pass to Adam Humphries.

However, no play was bigger than the blocked field goal by defensive back Joshua Kalu at the end of regulation.

Without it, Harrison Butker could have very well made his 52-yard attempt to force overtime, which could have led to disastrous results against a Chiefs team that would have had all the momentum.

CBS announcer Tony Romo yelling “unbelievable!” and the roar of the Nissan Stadium crowd still gives me chills.

5. Week 12 2019: Henry officially becomes Jags’ owner

Prior to this game, it was already well-known that Henry owned the Jags after his 238-yard, four-touchdown performance in 2018. However, he added to his dominance in this game after flaming Jacksonville for 159 yards and two scores, one of which went for 74 yards.

Henry wasn’t the only one who did great things in this game, though. Brown also made mince meat of the Jags with 135 yards and a long touchdown reception of 65 yards.

The revenge the Titans exacted in this one was sweet in the 42-20 blowout win, as Jacksonville had previously beaten head coach Mike Vrabel’s squad in Week 3, 20-7.

4. Week 14 2019: A.J. all the way

The Titans had to overcome a West Coast trip in a difficult place to play in Oakland in Week 14, and to top if all off the game was against an upstart Oakland Raiders team that was surprisingly decent.

The contest was back-and-forth in the first half, but Tennessee erupted in the final two quarters to pull away and win, 42-21.

Tannehill fell just shy of 400 yards in what might have been his best game of the season, and Brown finished with a career-high 153 yards through the air, including a sensational 91-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter.

3. Week 17 2019: The King is crowned

This game lost a bit of its luster because the Houston Texans decided to sit their starters, but really, who cares? That just made it easier for the Titans to clinch a playoff spot in the last game of the season.

A win-and-in game, the Titans made us sweat it out a bit, as the starter-less Texans kept the game close with the help of A.J. McCarron. However, talent ultimately won out and Tennessee pulled away in the fourth quarter to clinch a playoff spot.

A few major milestones happened in this game, also. A.J. Brown crossed over the 1,000-yard mark for the season, and Henry, who had missed the game prior, exploded for a season-high 211 yards and won the rushing title.

2. Wild Card 2019: The dynasty-killers

We didn’t know it for sure at the time, but this would be Tom Brady’s last game with the New England Patriots — and what a glorious game it was for the Titans.

Tennessee was the underdog in this game, but thanks to their second-half surge during the regular season, people were giving them a chance to topple the defending Super Bowl champions.

Henry picked up right where he left off in the regular season, as he torched the Pats for 182 yards and a touchdown. The win was sealed when Logan Ryan picked-off a Brady pass near the Pats’ goal line and returned it for a touchdown.

1. Divisional Round 2019: Shock the world

While the Titans were given a chance by many experts to beat the Pats, the same could not be said for their Divisional Round game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson and Co. were said to be unstoppable, and safety Earl Thomas didn’t think it was a big deal to tackle Henry in the days leading up to the game.

Both things were proven false.

The Titans’ defense frustrated Jackson all game and forced him into three turnovers, while also sacking him four times. In what ended up being one of his last games with the Titans, Jurrell Casey accounted for two of those sacks and forced the fumble Jackson lost.

As for Thomas, he ended up being Henry’s lead blocker on one of his many impressive runs that led to him totaling 195 yards on the ground. The King also added a touchdown pass to Corey Davis on a trick play for good measure.

When it was all said and done, the Titans shocked the world and defeated the top-seeded Ravens, 28-12, and Baltimore came away with its lowest point total of the entire 2019 season.
