- The incident occurred around 5am in the Soratoil area of Tangail district, 83km northwest of the capital Dhaka .
- Police reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which was carrying iron rods and numerous hitchhiking passengers.
- The passengers were travelling from Dhaka to the northern region as vacationers began their journeys for the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha .
