As many as "15 Gardai" were involved in a massive drugs raid at a set of Dublin flats in a late night operation on Monday night.
A search warrant was obtained by Gardai to hit a premises at Markievicz House Flats at around 9:30pm.
In a big local scoop in the crackdown on drugs in Dublin, one man in his 30s was arrested after Gardai discovered a large quantity of illegal tablets worth nearly €44,000.
A source told Dublin Live: "About 15 Gardai were involved in the raid.
"When they left, officers had recovered a large bag from the scene.
"The man arrested is already known to Gardai and this is a major win for Gardai on a local level."
Sinn Fein TD for Dublin Bay South, Chris Andrews said that it was great to see Gardai make a dent in this kind of illegal activity.
He told Dublin Live: "I would welcome this seizure by the Gardai and it's a good day for the community when these sort of seizures are made.
"Drugs have done so much damage to individuals, families and the community - particularly in the inner city.
"Drugs have held back what is a great community so it's very welcome to see Gardai make a dent in this illegal activity.
"The vast majority of people are really positive and want to get on with raising their families and its only a small few trying to make life difficult for their personal gain."
A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: At approximately 9:30pm 30 June 2020 Gardaí carried out a search under warrant at a premises in Markievicz House, Dublin 2.
He added: "A large quantity of tablets were seized, with an estimated value of €44,000 pending analysis.
"A male in his 30’s was arrested in relation to this matter."
