AMARAVATI: Minister for housing Cherukuvada Sri Ranganatha Raju said the government would complete work on 15.6 lakh houses in YSR Jagananna colonies by next year.
The minister said that the government would spend close to Rs.1.8 lakh crore to construct 28 lakh houses in two phases. He held an interactive session with senior legislators in the conference hall in the state assembly on Thursday. Speaking to reporters, he said the works on the 15.6 lakh houses, which were ground in the first week, were progressing well. “We have appointed a mandal officer to monitor housing colonies and joint collectors (housing) are on the field to expedite the works,” said Cherukuvada.
He said the government would take construction of another 12.6 lakh houses in the second phase which would also be completed by June, 2023.
The minister said that the government had already allotted Rs.12,000 crore for providing drinking water facilities and another Rs.34,000 crore to create infrastructure including roads, drains and electricity. He said the government spent close to Rs.28,000 crore to acquire about 68,000 acre land to distribute nearly 31 lakh house sites across the state.
