15,000 test Covid positive in Kerala; TPR at 16.93%

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state witnessed 15,058 positive cases of the 91,885 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate (TPR) has increased to 16.39%.

The state has also reported 99 Covid deaths, taking the toll to 22,650. At the same time, 28,439 patients have recovered from the disease.

Among the new cases, 14,336 cases have been infected through local transmission. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 612.

There are 61 healthcare professionals among those infected, and 49 people have arrived from outside the state.

Thrissur reported the highest number of cases with 2,158, followed by Kozhikode with (1,800), Ernakulam (1,694) and Thiruvananthapuram (1,387).

The total active cases at present are 2,08,773, of which 13.5% of people are admitted either in hospitals or in other treatment centres.

There are 5,90,219 persons presently under observation in various districts, of which 5,60,694 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres, and 29,525 are in isolation at hospitals.

As per the weekly infection population ratio, different wards in 794 local bodies are having a WIPR of more than 7%.
