14yo girl charged in connection with alleged murder of Jarrod Turner

Police have charged a 14-year-old girl in connection with the alleged murder of Jarrod Leigh Turner in Richmond, near Hobart in Tasmania, at the weekend.

The 14-year-old has been charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact to murder.

She appeared in a closed court hearing this afternoon. She did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

Police have released a 29-year-old Moonah man, who was assisting with inquiries, without charge.

Calls for more people to come forward

Detective Inspector Doug Rossiter urged anyone with information to come forward.

"There are people who we believe were involved in this crime who detectives would like to speak to," he said.

"Those people know who they are and are urged to come forward and contact police."

Crime Stoppers Tasmania chief Ralph Doedens said the organisation had received 31 anonymous information reports in relation to the alleged murder — 11 of which were submitted today.

"We want more people to come forward. Don't be afraid of how small your information is. Pass on whatever you know," he said.

The body of Mr Turner, a father of two, was found in the early hours of Sunday morning on the side of Colebrook Road, 2 kilometres north of Richmond, near Hobart.
