A 14-year-old girl from DeKalb County, Georgia, has been missing since Sunday, September 21. Family members believe an adult posing as a teenager online may have deceived her.
Atlanta news outlet 11 Alive reports that family members last saw Amy Reidling around 2 p.m. that afternoon at her home on Janet Lane in Decatur. Her stepmother, Ginny Rutledge, discovered Reidling was missing later that evening. Rutledge reported that Reidling or someone else had turned off her phone, and all messages had gone unread. The family immediately contacted authorities, and the DeKalb County Police Department launched an investigation.
Riedling may have been ‘lured’ from her home
Social media posts say an adult Reidling met online may have lured her away. Her family believes that the person pretended to be a teenager, possibly through social media or other online platforms. They suspect someone coached her into leaving home.
Reidling is 5’1″ tall and weighs 105 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair with bangs. The day she disappeared, she was preparing for her school’s homecoming and was shopping for accessories for her dress.
The DeKalb County Police Department has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and active. Officers are working diligently to locate Reidling and bring her home safely. The family has hired a private investigator and is actively searching the community, distributing flyers, and appealing to the public for assistance.
