A new housing estate of 144 homes could be built on empty land in Ayr.
Barratt Homes has lodged a proposal of application notice for the potential development, which has been approved by South Ayrshire Council.
The location of the properties would be at the former Neptune Works site on East Park Road. The 8.5 hectare brownfield site sits near a mineral railway and Lochside Road.
Work on the development would include land remediation, access for cars and pedestrians, landscaping, infrastructure and open space.
The plans are at an early stage and public consultation is due to take place.
A handling report from South Ayrshire Council said the developer intends to consult with Newton & Heathfield, and North Ayr community councils.
An online public event is also in the pipeline.
A planning application has yet to be submitted to the council – with few details released yet.
