14-year-old boy charged with shooting two men at CTA station in Chicago

CHICAGO _ A 14-year-old boy has been charged with opening fire at the CTA's Argyle station in Uptown this week, wounding two men on the platform, according to Chicago police.

The boy is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a gun. He was due in Juvenile Court on Friday.

The arrest came hours after police released images of two possible suspects in the shooting, which occurred just after 4 p.m. Monday at the station at 1118 W. Argyle St. Police took a second person into custody but no information was available on him.

Two men, 34 and 41, were wounded. The 34-year-old was hit in the back, abdomen, buttocks and groin and was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition, while the other victim refused medical treatment for a graze wound, police said.

During an Monday news conference near the scene, police said both victims were targeted by the shooter.
