14-year-old Arch Manning ahead of Peyton and Eli at his age, says grandfather Archie

The Manning family might have a new football star on its hands.

Arch Manning is the first freshman QB to ever start for Isidore Newman High’s varsity team, and he has led the Louisiana team to a 4-0 start. The school will face Booker T. Washington (3-1) on Friday.

Arch is the nephew of former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and New York Giants QB Eli Manning. Arch’s father, Cooper, was a high school star who saw his football career cut short; he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis before he had the chance to play college football.

Peyton, Eli and Cooper all played at Newman. Arch is the first of the Manning family to start for the varsity in his first year.

“He’s probably a little ahead of them as a freshman,” his grandfather, Archie Manning, told Dana Hunsinger Benbow of the Indianapolis Star.

Archie was named the SEC Player of the Year in 1969 and earned two Pro Bowl nods during his time as a QB in the NFL.

Arch has received an offer from Mississippi (Eli’s alma mater) and has also drawn interest from LSU and Tennessee (Peyton’s alma mater), according to Rivals.com. He is 14 years old.
