Smithdown Weekender returns later this month at a variety of locations, and it's well worth visiting.
The popular festival has grown in size over the years with many bars, cafés and shops along the much-loved south Liverpool street getting involved. The weekend event is a chance to celebrate and support the local independent businesses that make the street so popular.
This year's festival will be held from today, Friday, April 28 to Monday, May 1, giving people four days of entertainment to indulge in.

There's no shortage of things to do in Liverpool this bank holiday weekend, but this year's Smithdown event is absolutely worth your time and attention. Here's just 14 reasons to add it to your weekend plans:
- The entire weekend is mostly free to attend
- It includes an eclectic mix of entertainment like live music, DJ sets, talks and discussions, comedy, things for children to do, and much more
- It's helping to raise money for the Whitechapel Centre
- There's a disco for children, family and friends taking place from 4pm until 6pm today (April 28) at Sefton Park Cricket Club, presented by Holistic Harmonies and Sole Rebel
- Like many of this weekend's festivities, there's free entry, but numbers are limited - and there's option to donate to Whitechapel Centre when booking
- There'll be live music from a range of bands and performers, including The Jesse Janes, Splintered Ukes, Kingfast, and many more throughout the weekend
- Venues taking part include favourites like Dovedale Towers, The Beeswing, Handyman Pub, Black Cat, Franks, Nomad, Bean There and more
- There's cultural offerings at indie store Dead Ink Books, with talks from industry pros on 'the art of cover design' and 'building a strange world', plus children's activities
- And even more for creatives to enjoy at Bean There, with poetry, spoken word and live music on offer during the festival
- Mexican food venue Big Lola's will be serving Birria Tacos all weekend
- And it's hosting a Lou Embalsado photo exhibition on April 29 and 30
- Liverpool Indie Choir and Sweet Harmony Choir are set to perform on April 30
- Quiz fans can enjoy Che and Joe's Bank Holiday Hangover Quiz at Black Cat, or another quiz at The Beeswing, on May 1
- Some events have yet to be confirmed, so there'll be plenty of surprises and fun additions over the course of the weekend
