14 rats caught in one home during disgusting rodent takeover at Dublin flats complex

One resident has caught a staggering 14 rats in his home during a disgusting rodent takeover inside and outside a set of Dublin flats.

Residents at the Oliver Bond complex in Dublin’s south inner city say the place is overrun by rodents with rats visible “all day, every day”.

One man living there is said to have carried out the catches in his flat alone as the infestation has “gone beyond a joke”, Dublin Live reports.

Resident Lynette Lyons claimed that “no action is being taken” by Dublin City Council who residents are “consistently contacting”.

She said: “I think it’s down to the location of the bins. And there’s not enough bins for the people in the flats.

“The rats are running across the children’s feet. Children can’t even play due to the rats coming out.

“My dad also lives in the complex, and a neighbour knocked on my dad’s door last week to tell him that there were two huge rats on his window ledge. So, we can’t even open up windows.”

Dublin City Council says it is "aware and actively dealing with the issue".

They added that factors such as the recent heatwave and fall in the number of people on the streets have allowed a “large increase in the number of rats coming up from the pipe networks and onto the streets”.
