14 bin bags full of cannabis found in transit van after police pull over couple

Black bin bags filled with cannabis were found after police stopped and searched a transit van.

A man and a woman were arrested after the huge drug haul was discovered on Stanley Road, in Bootle, on Tuesday.

Officers in the area made the stop but it is not clear what gave them cause to search it.

During the search, 14 bin liners were removed from the van and the couple were arrested on drug dealing offences.

The 41-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were taken in to custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "A 41 year old man and a 31 year old woman who were arrested today (14th April) on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

"The arrest came after the transit van they were driving was stopped on Stanley Road, Bootle.

"Inside the van, 14 bin bags full with cannabis were found. The pair have been taken to custody."
