14 arrested as gardai search 14 houses and seize guns, drugs, cash and vehicles in three-day operation in Ballymun, Dublin

14 people were arrested during a three-day garda operation, during which guns, drugs and vehicles were seized, it has emerged.

Gardai attached to the 'H' District Drugs Unit, assisted by members from the Ballymun Division, searched 14 houses under warrant in Ballymun, Dublin over the past three days.

During the operation, which targeted street dealers, cannabis herb and cocaine worth €42,000 was seized, along with €14,000 in cash.

Two cars and a scrambler motorbike were also taken.

14 males, ages ranging from 16 to 30, were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

12 were charged and are before the courts. Two were released and a file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardai said that in a follow-up search, two firearms and a quantity of ammunition was also seized.

Investigations are still ongoing.

It comes as gardai arrested 18 people on Thursday in a "day of action" in Drogheda, Co Louth.

The arrests were made after 34 searches were carried out as part of an operation investigating criminality - Operation Stratus.
