14,539 new Covid cases in Kerala, positivity rate at 10.46%

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 14,539 new Covid-19 cases were reported with a test positivity rate (TPR) of 10.46% when 1,39,049 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. As many as 124 recent deaths were confirmed as due to Covid and the related death toll in the state has risen to 14,810.

At the same time, 10,331 patients have recovered from the disease and at present there are1,15,174 people under treatment in the state.

Among the new cases, 13,582 cases have been infected through local spread. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 828. There are 62 healthcare professionals among those infected and 67 people arrived from outside the state have also tested positive.

Malappuram reported the highest number of cases — 2,115, followed by Ernakulam (1,624), Kollam (1,404), Thrissur (1,364), Kozhikode (1,359), Palakkad (1,191), Thiruvananthapuram (977), Kannur (926), Alappuzha (871), Kottayam (826), Kasaragod (657), Pathanamthitta (550), Wayanad (436) and Idukki (239).

So far 29,57,201 people have recovered from Coronavirus infection in the state. A total of 2,46,48,919 samples have been sent for testing till now.

A total of 3,82,260 people are presently under observation in various districts of the state, of which 3,57,751 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 24,509 are in isolation at hospitals.
