To learn even more about these precious creatures, we got in touch with cat expert and the woman behind the Bionic Basil and the B Team blog, Cathrine Garnell. She was kind enough to have a chat with Bored Panda and share what her kitties have been up to recently.
"Oh, where do I begin? The cats have been in full mischief mode lately," Cathrine says. "Smooch has developed a new obsession with the fridge. Anytime it opens, he bolts over like it’s the gateway to Catopia. He’s convinced there’s a secret stash of tuna or prawns in there just waiting for him."

"Meanwhile, Fudge has taken up the noble art of knocking things off the ancient beam in the bedroom again," Cathrine continued. "Not for attention, not out of boredom, just pure feline philosophy: 'If it can fall, it must fall.' I caught him staring at four turquoise pom-poms for a full minute before casually swiping them off like he was testing gravity. (There’s a video somewhere.)"
"And Parsley, who’s been nesting in the wicker laundry basket like it’s his throne. Clean clothes are prime real estate territory," the cat expert says. "He’s also started blinking at birds through the window like he’s trying to negotiate a treaty. So yeah, it’s been a mix of chaos, comedy, and cuddles. There is never a dull moment in the feline kingdom of BBHQ."

"So, the other day, Pandora decided she was going to 'hunt' the vacuum cleaner. Not run from it, like a normal cat. No, she crouched behind the sofa, huge floofy tail twitching, eyes locked on the beast," Cathrine told Bored Panda. "The moment it powered on, she leapt out like a torti ninja, smacked it once with her paw, then bolted as if she’d just insulted a dragon. The vacuum, of course, remained unfazed!"
"And Melvyn? He’s been trying to 'catch' the cursor on the laptop screen," she continued. "You haven’t truly lived until you’ve watched your cat pawing at your screen like it’s a laser pointer. Productivity: zero. Entertainment: 10/10."

As far as why we find cat behavior so hilarious, Cathrine says these creatures are the perfect blend of elegance and absurdity. "One moment, they’re perched like royalty on a windowsill, gazing into the distance as they ponder the secrets of the universe, and the next, they’re launching themselves at invisible enemies or getting stuck in a cereal box. That contrast is comedy gold."
Their behavior is also quite unpredictable. "Their dramatic reactions to mundane things (like cucumbers or a slightly moved piece of furniture), their obsession with boxes, and their uncanny ability to act like they meant to fall off the couch, it’s like they’re living in their own sitcom," Cathrine explained. "Plus, cats don’t care if we laugh. They’re not trying to be funny, which makes it even funnier. It’s pure, unintentional comedy wrapped in fur and oodles of cattitude."

On the other hand, Cathrine believes that our kitties probably find our behavior a little silly as well. "I think if cats could giggle, they’d be quietly laughing their socks off behind their whiskers every day," she shared.
"Imagine their perspective: we trip over nothing, talk to them in ridiculous baby voices, obsessively clean up their fur only for them to shed more five minutes later, and panic when they bring us 'gifts' like a half-dead mouse," the cat expert says. "To them, we must seem like well-meaning but slightly clueless butlers."

"And then there’s the way we react to their antics," Cathrine continued. "They knock something off a shelf, and we gasp like it’s a crime scene. They sit in a box, and we take twenty photos. They meow once, and we scramble to interpret it like it’s an ancient prophecy. If cats had a group chat, we’d be the main topic. They probably think we’re adorable in our own chaotic way. Not quite as graceful, but definitely entertaining."

"Cats are floofy, furry enigmas wrapped in drama and charm. Living with them is like sharing space with an anipal that’s part philosopher, part stand-up comedian, and part chaos gremlin," Cathrine added. "They keep us humble and incredibly entertained."
"Also, if your cat has ever stared at a wall for five minutes straight, just know, they probably saw something you didn’t. Or they’re just messing with you. Either way, they win! Cats, in my opinion, are just EPIC!"
