13-year-old boy left in 'critical condition' after police and firefighters rush to Edinburgh flat

A teenager has been rushed to hospital after taking seriously unwell in an Edinburgh flat.

The 13-year-old boy has been left fighting for his life after he deteriorated into a "critical condition", according to police.

Emergency services had been called to a home in Leith yesterday afternoon, with teams arriving at around 3pm.

The Sun has reported that officers in forensic suits, as well as firefighters and paramedics had attended the North Fort Street property before the boy was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

It is still unclear as to how the teen took ill, however enquires are now ongoing into the incident.

A police spokesman said: "Around 3pm on Monday, December 7, police were made aware a 13-year-old boy had been admitted to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children after taking unwell at a property in North Fort Street, Edinburgh.

He remains in hospital for treatment where his condition is described as critical.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
