A DRUG dealer found with $12,000 worth of heroin in her underpants has avoided a jail term in Newcastle District Court.
Kelly Anne Gilmour, 45, of Wallsend, was nervous and constantly fidgeting in the area around her groin after police stopped her car at Wahroonga on September 3, 2018.
Surveillance as part of undercover sting Operation Sleepy had detected Gilmour supplying heroin more than 50 times during the month of August. And police had followed her down the M1 to Sydney's northern suburbs where Gilmour had been spotted stepping out of her car and getting into another unidentified car for a short time before returning to her vehicle.
When police suddenly pounced on Gilmour, shining torch lights in her face and barking questions, Gilmour began constantly fidgeting around her groin area but denied there was anything hidden in her pants.
A search uncovered 28 grams of heroin, which police said had a street value of $12,000, hidden in her underpants.
Gilmour pleaded guilty to supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis in relation to 52 separate heroin supplies during August, 2018, and supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug relating to the 28 grams of heroin found in her underpants during her arrest on September 3.
After a stint in a rehabilitation centre, Gilmour was placed on a two-and-a-half year intensive corrections order and told to complete 200 hours of community service.
