There were 124 newly confirmed coronavirus infections in Tokyo on Friday.
This is the first time in two months the number has exceeded 100 for two consecutive days in the capital since the figure reached 165 on May 1 and 154 on May 2, during the state of emergency. The number of new infections was 107 on Thursday.
"Not only have infections been confirmed in nightlife districts, but also in households and at workplaces," Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike said. "I urge people to take precautions, such as maintaining social distance."
