12-year-old PUBG player makes hoax bomb call to railway station

A 12-year-old boy, who was hooked to the video game Player Unknowns Battlegrounds (PUBG). reportedly called the railway police on April 1 claiming that a bomb had been placed at Yelahanka railway station and was set to go off at any time.

At first panic gripped staff members at the station. Security personnel swung into action but during the probe identified the caller as the 12-year-old.

The police traced the boy to his house in Vinayaka Nagar. “He is addicted to PUBG and made the call for fun,” said a police officer.

The police recorded his statement, as well as that of his father’s, who runs a provision store. “We spoke to the family. We have submitted a detailed report to the higher authorities on this incident seeking necessary action,” a police officer said, adding that the boy and his parents have been warned not to make such hoax calls again.
