12-year-old child arrested in North Belfast for riotous behaviour

Police in North Belfast have arrested a 12-year-old child for riotous behaviour.

PSNI issued a statement on social media saying they have been dealing with 'futile activity' in the Cliftonpark Avenue area tonight.

It added: "How much has this young man damaged his future prospects by getting involved in this senseless behaviour?

"We will continue to take positive proactive action when and where we can so that the residents in these areas can live in peace.

"Know where your children are and what they're up to."

Oldpark Councillor Dale Pankhurst condemned the incident.

He told Belfast Live : "It was utterly depressing to hear that a 12 year-old was out rioting. He and his peers shouldn't be thinking about rioting let alone doing it in 2020.

"Well done to the PSNI for dealing with this behavior, ensuring residents can feel safe and secure in their own homes."
