12-year-old Charlie Kay has won the Hibs goal of the month award for March.
The Tranent Colts player appeared on the pitch at half-time of last season’s 2-0 win over Motherwell at Easter Road to take part in the half-time challenge.
Charlie, who has cerebral palsy, successfully converted past Sunshine the Leith Lynx in goal to claim the award, sponsored by Veen Barbers.
Footage of his effort was shared far and wide after members of the Hibs first team squad rushed to post it on their social media platforms.
David Gray and Marc McNulty can have no complaints after their efforts from the same month were beaten by Charlie’s.
Charlie, his Hibs-daft friend, Sadie, and Mum, Melanie, kicked off with a special tour of our state-of-the-art training facility before being treated to lunch with Paul Heckingbottom, Robbie Stockdale and the first-team squad
Paul said: “It was great to have Charlie, Sadie and Melanie along to HTC and we all remember his goal.
“It got a massive cheer on the day and it was just a great moment, with the supporters really getting behind him.
“I can’t believe Charlie said he prefers to play in goal with shooting like that!”
After meeting all of the players and watching them get put through their paces in the gym, Charlie and Sadie joined Fraser Murray, Jamie Gullan and Sean Mackie for a kickabout in our indoor training area.
Charlie – who was also presented with a brand new Hibernian home strip, complete with the Hibernian Community Foundation logo – was then presented with his award by Ryan Porteous.
