12-year-old boy dies after collision involving a van and a pedestrian near Glenavy

A 12-year-old boy has died following a road traffic collision in Co Antrim on Friday afternoon.

The incident involving a van and a pedestrian took place at around 3.30pm on the Lisburn Road area outside Glenavy on December 10.

The child has been named as Aaron Webb and is from the Greater Lisburn area.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said: "Police can confirm a boy has died following a road traffic collision yesterday afternoon (Friday 10 December) on the Lisburn Road, outside Glenavy.

"The collision involved a van and a pedestrian, who has been named as Aaron Webb.

"Aaron, aged 12 years old, was from the Greater Lisburn area."

Sergeant Braiden continued: “Officers attended along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Aaron was transported to hospital but, sadly, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

“The collision took place at approximately 3.30pm. We are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area around this time and who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact us on 101. Please quote reference 1069 of 10/12/21.”
