The global pandemic is adding stress to most aspects of our lives, and according to a recent study, it could be adding pressure to our waistbands too.
A new global study carried out in 30 countries has examined the impact of Covid-19 on our food choices.
While Ireland was not part of the research, the information gathered by Ipsos reviewed data from some of our closest neighbours, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Belgium.
It found that people around the world are gaining weight during the crisis, with 31% of the global population putting on the pounds since the pandemic began.
The average weight gain was 6.1kg.
Researchers also found that almost half (45%) of people around the world are trying to slim down, with almost two-thirds (62%) hoping to lose weight they had gained before the arrival of Covid-19.
However, times are tough at the moment, and often treats are needed as a reward simply for getting through yet another day in lockdown.
