12 pubs and bars in Nottinghamshire you can visit without booking

Fancy an impromptu pint or lunch like you used to before Covid-19 reared its ugly head? Well, these Nottinghamshire pubs are open for outdoor dining and drinking and you won't need to pre-book.

As hospitality reopens for outdoor service in the latest phase of lockdown easing, many pubs and restaurants around the county have been taking bookings for outside tables with a view to ensuring their available seating is full whatever the weather and they can start to recoup some of the cash they've lost over the last three lockdowns.

While some pubs and restaurants are taking deposits for tables others are simply opening up on a 'come as you please' basis during opening times.

So, as the nation emerges from behind closed doors for more than just a picnic, these are some of the pubs and restaurants that you can visit without a booking.

Watson Fothergills Pub and Bistro, Nottingham

Opening up for outside service in line with government guidance from today is Watson Forthergills Pub and Bistro opposite Nottingham Castle. There'll be a slightly reduced menu while outside dining is in place but the good news is that you won't have to make a forward booking. With the British weather in mind, the venue says that if the weather is particularly bad they may have to close for short periods.

The Free Man in Carlton Street, Nottingham

Richard Shaw, pub manager at The Free Man, Nottingham, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back after a long time away.”

A Wetherspoon pub, Richard won't be operating a booking system. The pub will be open from 9am to 9pm (Sunday to Thursday inclusive) and 9am to 10pm (Friday and Saturday).

A slightly reduced menu will be offered from 9am to 8pm seven days a week.

The Gooseberry Bush, Peel Street, Nottingham

Another Nottingham Wetherspoon pub that is open and you won't need to book for is The Gooseberry Bush in Peel Street. They'll also be offering a reduced menu but it will include breakfast, burgers, pizza, deli deals, fish and chips and British classics. Customers will be able to order and pay through the Wetherspoon app, however, staff will be able to take orders and payment at the table from those who don’t have the app.

Jam Cafe, Hockley, Nottingham

Opening today and not taking table reservations is Jam Cafe in Heathcote Street, Nottingham. The team are still taking orders for its eco-delivery service too so check the website for availability when it comes to this service.

The William Peverel (patio) in Main Street, Bulwell

Over in Bulwell, you can call into the patio of The William Peverel for a pint of two. Open from 9am to 9pm (Sunday to Thursday inclusive) and 9am to 10pm (Friday and Saturday), the pub will not be operating a booking system.

The Wheatsheaf, Bingham

Tables for food and drinks will be available for walk-ins only. The venue won't be taking bookings between now and Sunday, May 16, 2021. The team say that full table service will be offered and that the takeaway service will continue to operate during food service hours for both collection and delivery.

Marquis of Granby, Granby

From 5pm today Marquis of Granby will reopen and no table reservations will be required. The Vale of Belvoir pub wrote on its Facebook page "And Gilly's Fish Bar will be here too! Remember to wrap up warm!"

The Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren, Stapleford

The pub in Derby Road in Stapleford will be open for walk-ins from 9am until 9pm Sunday to Thursday and from 9am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. It will operate on a 'first come, first served' basis and there'll be a slightly reduced menu on offer.

Bunkers Hill, Hockley, Nottingham

Bunkers Hill will be open from Thursday "unless the weather looks to be significantly better sooner", the team says on Facebook. Open for 'walk-ins' only, the pub at the bottom of Hockley serves craft beer and cider.

The Woodthorpe Top in Woodthorpe Drive, Mapperley

With a good-sized patio at the front of this pub in Woodthorpe Drive there's table service for both food and drink. The menu will be slightly reduced but as a Wetherspoon pub, there'll still be favourites such as free tea and coffee refills as well as a menu that includes breakfast, burgers, pizza, deli deals, fish and chips and British classics.

The Last Post, Beeston

One of six Nottingham Wetherspoon pubs that will be open, The Last Post in Chilwell Road, Beeston will again not be asking customers to book a table in advance. In line with government guidelines, table service will be in operation.

The Organ Grinder, Nottingham

Operating a 'first come, first served' service is The Organ Grinder in Alfreton Road, Canning Circus. The pub has a lovely outdoor seating area and tables will be assigned by the greeter. Tables have a two hour limit.
