12 hours of rain and thunderstorms due to hit Nottingham tomorrow as Met Office issues yellow weather warning

Thunderstorms are set to hit parts of the county tomorrow as well as 12 hours of rain.

Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across Nottingham and parts of Nottinghamshire.

Flooding and disruption to public transport could happen during the course of the warning which is in place between 2pm and 10pm tomorrow (Wednesday August 14).

Although the warning is only in place during the afternoon and evening, the Met Office has forecast rain to start around 9am and not let up until 10pm.

What to expect? 

As as result of potential flooding, Met Office has released a list of other conditions that are a possibility during the course of the warning. 

They are: "Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and possible road closures. 

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. 

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes or hail."

Five-day forecast

Tomorrow (Wednesday August 14) - Rain from 7am until 7pm. Highs of 17C, lows of 14C. 

Thursday (August 15) - No rain expected as yet. Highs of 19C and lows of 12C. 

Friday (August 16) - Heavy rain between 1pm and 4pm. Highs of 17C and lows of a 14C.

Saturday (August 17) - Light rain between 1pm and 7pm. Highs of 19C and lows of 12C. 

Sunday (August 18) - Light rain between 10am and 7pm. Highs of 18C and lows of 12C
