12 days with no coronavirus deaths recorded in Leeds hospitals

Leeds has now gone 12 days without a coronavirus death in one of the city's hospitals.

However, for Yorkshire as a whole, the two day streak with no deaths has come to and end with one fatality recorded at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

The death makes the region's total death toll rise to 2,590 since the start of the outbreak.

This also increases the total number of deaths at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust to 336.

Across England, 15 deaths were recorded in hospitals.

An NHS spokesperson said: "A further 15 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,515.

"The patients were between 27 and 95 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.

"Date of death ranges from 23 July 2020 – 24 August 2020, with the majority since Saturday.

"Their families have been informed."
