12 civilians injured in Pulwama grenade attack

Twelve civilians were injured when a grenade thrown by militants missed the target in south Kashmir’s Pulwama on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said the incident took place at 5:45 p.m. at the Main Town Kakapora area of Pulwama.

“Terrorists hurled a grenade on a CRPF bunker of 41 Battalion. However, the grenade missed the target and exploded on road. Twelve civilians sustained injuries,” the spokesman said.

All the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

Those injured included a couple. Three among the injured were shifted to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar. They were identified as Mohammad Shafi Dar (37), his wife Raja Begum (36) and Habibullah Sheikh (65), all residents of Kakpora in Pulwama.

The area was cordoned off and a search was launched but no one was arrested so far.
