NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Gautam Budh Nagar on Friday recorded 111 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, with a positivity rate of 4.4%, data by the health department showed.
The average of daily new cases has seen a decline so far this week. The first week of August saw an average of 154 new cases reported daily. In the second week, the figure rose to 171. It is now at 104.
Active cases in GB Nagar too are reducing. The district currently has 686 active infections, down from 703 a day before.
On Friday, Ghaziabad added 52 cases of the viral illness, with a positivity rate of 1.4%. Like its neighbour, the number of active cases in the city fell from the day before. It presently has 354 active infections, about 7 lower than Thursday.
Ghaziabad's case trend has been similar. The first week of August saw an average of 67 new cases daily. This increased to 90 in the second week, and has climbed down to 55 in the first five days of this week.
Hospitalisations, which rose in the second week, still remain low. Less than 20 Covid-19 patients are admitted to medical facilities in GB Nagar, and 11 in Ghaziabad. The number of patients in hospitals had touched 30 last week in both the districts.
In Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow (187) has reported the most cases on Friday, followed by GB Nagar and Agra (63). The state added a total of 866 cases across all of its 75 districts in the past 24 hours. Active cases stand at 4,659.
