11-year-old’s body fished out from Buridehing river

DIBRUGARH: The body of an 11-year-old boy, a Dibrugarh town resident who had gone missing on September 9, was fished out by a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel from Buridehing river on Saturday, after a 36-hour extensive search.

The victim, Ayushman Dowerah, a class-5 student of Gyan Vigyan Academy, had gone missing from his residence at Ruplal Dutta Path in Chowkidinghee around 2.15 pm on Thursday.

After he didn’t return home in the evening, Ayushman's family along with local people began looking for him but couldn't find a trace. Examining the CCTV camera footage, the police came to know that the boy was riding his bicycle near the deputy commissioner’s office. His bicycle and sleepers were recovered from the bank of the river at Khamtighat, around 18km from Dibrugarh and a search was initiated.
