11-year-old cyclist airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries after being hit by car

An 11-year-old boy has been left with life-changing injuries after being hit by a car while riding his bike.

The child was airlifted to hospital following reports of a crash between a car and a cyclist in Holyhead shortly after 5pm on Monday.

North Wales Police said the boy sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.

Officers are appealing to those who may have witnessed the incident on Cyttir Road, Holyhead, to come forward.

Sergeant Jason Diamond of the force's road policing unit said: “We are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, which involved a blue Mazda to get in touch with us immediately.

“The Mazda was travelling along Cyttir Road towards London Road, and the cyclist had come from the direction of Tyn Pwll Road.

“We are also requesting contact from anybody who lives on Cyttir Road or Tyn Pwll Road and who has private CCTV, or anybody who was in the vicinity and who may have dashcam footage to contact us.”
