An 11-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man were wounded in a shooting Sunday night in Brainerd on the South Side.

About 9 p.m., the man was outside in the 900 block of West 95th Street when he began feeling pain in his hip, Chicago police said. He thought he had been struck by fireworks but later determined he had suffered a gunshot wound to the hip, police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was stabilized.

An 11-year-old boy also suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Chicago fire officials. He was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, police said.

There is no one in custody, according to police.
