16 sassy Trump impeachment memes that are too good not to share

Donald Trump is only the third US President in history to face a Senate impeachment trial after Bill Clinton in 1999 and Andrew Johnson in 1868.

Mr Trump was impeached last month by the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of congress.

It is claimed the POTUS withheld military aid from Ukraine, in exchange for an investigation into political rivals during the 2016 presidential election. The President denies all wrongdoing.

Proceedings began on January 22, and the Democrats now have up to three days to make their case to the Republican-controlled Senate before Mr Trump's defence team have three days after that for a rebuttal.​

Since the news broke, celebs and US citizens have taken to social media to share their joy - and memes.
