11-time All-Ireland winner Brid Stack taken to hospital after suffering injury in Australia

Brid Stack has been taken to hospital after suffering an injury in a practice match for the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

The former Cork star suffered the injury from a collision in the fourth quarter of the game.

Her club said in a tweet: "Unfortunately Irish recruit Brid Stack has been taken to hospital following spinal precaution protocols after a collision in a tackle late in the fourth quarter.

"She’s in the best possible care and we will provide a full update when we have further information."

A number of messages from well-wishers have been posted on social media.

Cork LGFA said: "Wishing @BridStackie a speedy recovery and hoping that it’s not anything serious & just all the @GWSGIANTS medics being professional and looking after you."

Marty Morrissey tweeted: "Just sending you Brid all our good wishes from back home in Ireland. Speedy recovery and hopefully you are ok and will be back playing shortly."

The 11-time All-Ireland winner signed for GWS in October after the club had chased her signature for a number of years.

Stack retired from inter-county football at the start of 2019 and moved to Australia last month.
