11 things Irish people love that might not be allowed again until a Covid vaccine is found

With the pub reopenings pushed back again this week, Irish people are starting to realise life won't be back to normal for quite some time.

Since March when Ireland first entered lockdown there has been hope that by the end of the summer life would be back to normal.

Many people were under the impression that when measures were first introduced that even Electric Picnic would definitely go ahead.

Now as we near September, the chances of opening up the country further without some major vaccine breakthrough look bleak.

Without a vaccine, widespread rapid testing or some sudden scientific breakthrough, these are some of the things we are unlikely to see again in the near future.

1. Packed pubs

The opening of pubs was pushed back again until the end of August with no guarantee from Government that "wet pubs" will even open at all in 2020.

However, even if they do open there seems little or no chance that with social distancing we will see people packed into pubs like we once knew.

2. Nightclubs

Nightclubs in 2020 look a no go with the chances of Coppers welcoming in hundreds of people on a Saturday night slim to none.

Health experts across the world have listed nightclubs as the worst possible place for stopping a contagious virus.

3. Holidays to our favourite countries

A holiday in Spain or Portugal at the moment is not recommended and with many European countries seeing a surge it remains to be seen if they will ever make the green list.

And as travel continues to pose a major Covid risk it is likely to be a while before travel restrictions are taken away.

4. A full house in Croke Park

Crowds of up to 500 people outdoors didn't even get the go ahead yet so a gathering of 82,000 people in Croke Park this December will not be happening as things stand.

If the GAA inter-country championships do go ahead as planned it is likely to be behind closed doors or with very limited crowds.

5. Festivals and concerts

Electric Picnic, All Together Now and every concert this summer were cancelled and unless there is a major change they won't be back anytime soon.

6. Working in full offices

The craic of working alongside all your colleagues is back for some but many office jobs will not be asking employees to go back for the foreseeable.

7. Not wearing a face mask

Whether people like them or not they are going to have to get used to them.

Face masks are likely to be here and mandatory in many places for a long time to come.

8. Shake someone's hand

Shaking someone's hand after meeting them is another once common occurrence that has no place in Covid times.

9. Host a big wedding or funeral

Weddings and funerals will have to stick to gathering limits for the foreseeable with the days of hundreds at both long gone.

10. Host a party

Indoor gathering limits are likely to be one of the last things to go with parties seen as a major issue at the moment.

Hosting a big house party is unlikely to be allowed until we get a vacccine.

11. Live like normal

Until a major coronavirus breakthrough is made living life like you used to probably cannot happen.

Extra care needs to be taken in almost every aspect of your life while some of your favourite activities are no longer allowed.

Without a vaccine or some great solution, life won't be normal.
