Contrary to popular belief, this city is full of locals who live here year-round and not just during the Fringe.
We have our own traditions, which mainly consist of going to some of the best pubs in the country and grabbing a chippy (with brown sauce) on the way home.
And, while we don't want to sound like snobs, we also have a number of bugbears that are always sure to get on our last nerve.

1. Tell us Glasgow is much cooler
No chance.

It's nothing personal...but not a chance.
3. Ask if everyone in Edinburgh is tourists
Don't let the Airbnb's on the Royal Mile fool you, Edinburgh natives are not an endangered species.
4. Pronounce it Edin-burg (the worst)
Americans have particular difficulty with this one.
5. Laugh at Cockburn Street sign
We laughed the first 1000 times someone made that joke.
6. Insist we say ‘Curly Wurly’
Never...unless you offer us a few free pints.
7. Offer us a chippy without brown sauce
What's the point?
8. Stop in the middle of street to take photos of the Castle
We know it's really pretty but some people need to catch a bus here.
9. Only visit during the Fringe
Come and visit Edinburgh when it's a quieter place!
10. Join a silent disco tour
One rule to live by: do not tell an Edinburgh local you're going on a silent disco tour.
11. Do a 'Limmy impression' of our accent
