HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to complete the tendering process for another 11 works pertaining to the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) soon.
According to officials, there are a total of 60 nala and stormwater drain projects under the SNDP out of which 37 of them are within the GHMC limits under phase 1.
So far, works are under way in 26 places and the tendering process is almost complete in the remaining works. Officials said that they were aiming to complete the SNDP project before the monsoon season hits this year. “Senior engineers have been given responsibility to monitor works in all the GHMC zones and directed to meet the deadline without failure,” the GHMC said.
SNDP was proposed in 2020 after the city witnessed massive floods. The project saw delays due to the issuance of letter of acceptance. In January, minister for municipal administration and urban development KT Rama Rao took stock of the situation and directed officials to finalise tenders and take up works immediately.
The Rs 858 crore project was trifurcated and three senior engineers -- K Kishan, M Devanand and C Vasantha — were given charge to handle work across different zones. While chief engineer in-charge Kishan is handling LB Nagar, Secunderabad and Khairatabad zones, chief engineer Devanand is taking up works in Charminar zone and OSD Vasantha in Kukatpally and Serilingampally zones.
