11 pubs and clubs in and around Liverpool showing live comedy all year round

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019 is underway and Scouse comedians are flying the flag for Merseyside.

But with comedy in Liverpool's blood, unsurprisingly there are many comedy nights you can get along to back home all year round.

Most people know that Liverpool is lucky to boast brilliant dedicated comedy clubs such as Hot Water Comedy Club in Hardman Street and Laughterhouse Comedy whose flagship venue is based at The Slaughterhouse but also puts on nights elsewhere including Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

And there are a raft of pubs and other venues putting on regular comedy nights in and around Liverpool which might have escaped your notice.

Here are 9 comedy nights you might have missed

1) Early Risers Comedy Club

A fiver on the door with a chance to win a bottle of wine and often a pro headliner, Hannah Jones' monthly comedy night on the second Wednesday of the month is held at Blackburne House in Blackburne Place close to Hope Street.

The night is "aimed at parents or anyone that would appreciate a comedy night" with a strict end time of 9.45pm.

There's also a “have a go hero” with one act having a three minute first go at stand up. The next night is August 14.

Scouse comedians to look out for in Edinburgh

Liverpool is well represented in Edinburgh.

Pro acts include Paul 'Silky' White, Adam Rowe and Keith Carter.

While newer comics Sian Davies, Hannah Platt, Barry Heap are just some of the comedians unleashing their humour as Scotland’s capital hosts three weeks of comedy and performance art.
