11 players who saw their stock soar at the NFL Combine

The NFL Combine can make players’ draft stock or break it. Some players will make a bundle off how they performed in Indianapolis.

11. Zedrick Woods, DB, Ole Miss

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Looking for someone who brings blazing speed, just check out Ole Miss safety Zedrick Woods. He sizzled in the 40 at 4.29, besting Auburn’s Jamel Dean by a tick.

10. Montez Sweat, DL, Mississippi State

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The whole package: Speed, strength. Look for this name to be called reasonably early in the first round. Don’t be shocked if Montez Sweat hardly has to break a sweat in the green room and if he is called in the Top 10.

9. Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Alabama DT is going to be one of the top picks in the NFL Draft. He did nothing but turn up his reputation as one of the best players in the nation.

8. Noah Fant, TE, Iowa

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa tight end Noah Fant impressed with size and speed and strength at The Combine. He measure 6-foot-  and weighed 249 pounds. A 4.50 50 and 39.5-inch vertical at that size has teams hoping to grab him in a league that is always looking for the next great tight end.

7. Brian Burns, DL, Florida State

Thomas J. Russo-USA TODAY Sports

Florida State’s Brian Burns impressed with his speed and movement. He may not be the biggest player on the board, but he certainly has a rare burst. Expect this Seminole’s stock to continue to soar as the draft approaches.

6. Darrell Henderson, RB, Memphis State

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Touchdown Wire report tells you all  you need to know about Memphis RB Darrell Henderson: Henderson, who ran an unofficial 4.36 40-yard dash at the combine, gained 1,909 rushing yards and scored 22 touchdowns on just 214 carries last season, averaging an amazing 8.9 yards per carry—the exact same YPC he had in 2017, when he ran 130 times for 1,154 yards and nine scores–brings a lot of the same things as a pure runner. Henderson also caught 63 passes for 758 yards and eight touchdowns in his three-year Memphis tenure.

5. Andre Dillard, OL, Washington State

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Andre Dillard came away to some as the best offensive lineman prospect at the Combine. Says a lot about a Washington State Cougar who showed up at Pullman at 240 and now is a tidy, 315 pounds.

4. Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Jarrett Stidham has a rocky road to the Combine, getting caught up in the Art Briles scandal at Baylor and having to transfer to Auburn. The quarterback was highly regarded when he landed in Waco and showed some of the talent people wondered about in Indy. One to watch.

3.Devin Bush Jr., LB, Michigan

Devin Bush (left) blazed a 4.44 40-yard dash time and opened eyes with a 40.5-inch vertical. The 5-foot-11, 237-pounder has first-round potential.

2. Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

An absolute five-star, blue-chipper coming out of New Jersey to Ann Arbor, Rashan Gary has done nothing to damage that reputation. He looks like the goods when it comes to a powerhouse D-lineman at the next level.

1. D.K. Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss

Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

This is one interesting Rebel. D.K. Metcalf shows insane speed at 4.33 in the 40. His vertical (40.5) and broad jump (11-2) were stunning, too. He will go down in history as one of the all-time Combine “freaks.” Will it translate to Sundays?
