11 people stuck mid-air in cable car in Himachal’s Parwanoo rescued

All the eleven people who were stranded mid-air in a rope-way (cable car) in Himachal Pradesh’s ‘Timber Trail’ hotel in Parwanoo district were safely rescued.

The cable car reportedly developed a technical snag after it left the destination from the hilltop, following which the travellers got stuck. The eleven people who got stuck included six men and five women. The incident took place at around 11 AM, according to State's Emergency Operation Center.

A rescue team of the hotel and a team for National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted the operation to evacuate the stranded people.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who reached the spot to take stock of the situation said that all the eleven people who were stranded have been safely rescued. “An inquiry into the incident has been ordered,” said Mr. Thakur.

Mr. Thakur said necessary steps would be taken the by the government to ensure that such incident is not repeated in the future.
