11 more deaths recorded in Northern Ireland as positive Covid-19 cases drop

The Department of Health has released its latest figures for Covid 19 deaths, with 11 more people dying with the virus.

The deaths of 10 people were recorded within the last 28 days and another one person outside the reporting period.

Today's figures show 176 new positive tests recorded in the 24 hours period.

The total number of fatalities is now 1,996.

A total of 51 people remain ventilated in hospital with 58 people being treated in ICU.

In 78 care homes staff are dealing with active outbreaks, 33 of the residents showing symptoms, 38 without symptoms and another seven unknown.

The Department, which records people who have had a positive test for the virus, says 2,137 people tested positive in the last seven days with a total of 44,598 tests carried out in that time.
