11 brilliant pictures as Liverpool get guard of honour from Man City

Jordan Henderson led the way as Liverpool marked their Premier League crowning with a guard of honour at Manchester City on Thursday evening.

The Reds captain walked out in front with his team-mates behind him as their City rivals afforded the visitors a polite round of applause for their efforts this season.

Jurgen Klopp's side have run away with proceedings in the league this season and have won the title in the quickest time ever, having played just 31 games so far.

The Reds were officially confirmed as champions a week ago when City were beaten 2-1 at Chelsea.

That defeat - City's eighth of the campaign - leaves the leaders with an unassailable 23-point advantage at the summit of the English game.

This trip to the Etihad is the first game Liverpool have played as champions since 1990 and with 21 points still available for Klopp's side, they have City's 100-point record from 2018 in their sights.

"It will hurt [City] no doubt," said Manchester United legend Roy Keane on Sky Sports.

"But to get respect you've got to show respect. The word we're using is respect and they have won the league. Credit to them. You wait until the referee blows for kick-off and that respect will be out the window."
