100-year-old skull found on Irish beach

Gardaí in Mayo have been alerted to the discovery of a human skull at Bartragh Island, Killala.

The discovery was made on April 1 and after the skull was discovered, it was sent to Mayo University Hospital where a thorough examination was conducted.

Following the examination that was conducted by a forensic anthropologist, it was determined that this skull was several hundred years old.

In a statement that was released, Gardai said that no further action will be conducted at this time.
